The shocking case of Abdul Shakoor Ezedi

I’m angry. I’m upset. And this is not a normal post.

In case you’ve not heard, a major manhunt is currently underway in Britain for a man named Abdul Shakoor Ezedi.

Who is he?

Let me tell you.

In 2016, Abdul Shakoor Ezedi entered Britain illegally from Afghanistan in a lorry.

He then applied for asylum, twice, and was turned down on both occasions.

Was he then removed from Britain?

Nope. He stayed in the country.

In 2018, Ezedi then went on to commit a sexual assault and indecent exposure.

What happened then?

He was given a suspended sentence, meaning he did not go to jail.

What happened after that?

Well, having already been convicted of a serious crime, Abdul Ezedi then applied for asylum for a third time.

This time he was … successful.

Why?

Because now he claimed he was “a Christian”, which was endorsed by a priest.

Then, last night, Abdul Shakoor Ezedi committed something which, to be honest, I struggled to respond to on live television.

He attacked a mother and her two daughters in London with a corrosive substance, leaving them with what police describe as “life-changing injuries”.

Let me say that again.

He doused a woman and her two daughters with an alkaline substance.

And that’s not all.

At one point during the horrific ordeal, as you can see here, Ezedi pulled a three-year-old daughter out of the car and repeatedly threw her on the ground like a rag doll—presumably trying to kill her.

I would like to ask the very senior politicians and members of the cabinet who read this Substack each week some questions.

Why was this man in Britain?

Seriously, why was this man in the country?

Why on earth was he allowed to stay after entering the country illegally?

Why was he then not deported after committing a sexual assault?

And why was then given asylum after committing such a serious crime?

The answer, in short, is because we are led by fools.

We are led by people who simply have no serious interest in prioritising the security and the safety of the British people above an international ‘human rights’ regime.

We are led by a new elite —comprised of left-leaning judges, lawyers, Home Office officials, supranational courts, hapless politicians, and the surrounding charity industrial complex— which seemingly has no problem at all with open borders, illegal immigration, and allowing the likes of Ezedi to stay in Britain.

We are led by a Luxury Belief Class which routinely advocate soft policies on illegal migration and ‘human rights’ which bring them few costs and more social status from other elites while imposing enormous costs on everybody else, like that poor mother and her two children who will never recover from this attack.

We are led by a new elite which continually rushes to defend a human rights regime which consistently makes the task of removing foreign national offenders who have been found guilty of committing crimes in Britain especially difficult.

We are led by a new elite which in recent years has consistently allowed murderers, rapists, violent criminals and others to avoid deportation flights at the last minute —like the 23 criminals who were taken off a flight to Jamaica despite holding 156 years worth of prison sentences among them for murder, rape, and child grooming.

We are led by a new elite which has consistently failed to push back against judges who recently ruled that an ISIS terrorist sympathiser could remain in the country on the grounds of human rights —despite the security services warning he posed a serious terror threat to the British people.

We are led by a new elite which has allowed some 12,000 foreign national offenders (FNOs) who are subject to deportation to remain living in Britain after finishing their prison sentences, which is almost three times the figure a decade ago.

Many of these foreign national offenders, like Ezedi, as Ed West points out, have also gone on to commit even more crimes.

Remarkably, they include more than fifty foreign terrorists who cannot be deported, and a rapist who cannot be removed from Britain because, apparently, he would not receive “the right medical treatment” back home.

Much of this flows from the new elite’s continual support of our membership of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which is also contributing to our inability to stop the rising number of small boats entering Britain illegally.

And this is now having serious downstream effects on everybody else, not least that poor mother and two children who were attacked by Ezedi last night.

Many of the most recent and serious Islamist terrorist attacks on Britain’s streets were perpetrated by men claiming asylum —like those in Manchester, Liverpool, Reading, and London, while other attacks are clearly being downplayed.

This is simply not what most most ordinary people want. It is the very opposite of what they want. Most British people want the number of illegal migrants to be slashed and for those who do come to the country to play by the rules.

As I pointed out yesterday, if you ask the British people what they think should happen to foreign nationals who commit serious crimes, the vast majority, typically around three-quarters of them, say “remove them from the country”.

They feel much the same about foreign nationals who glorify Islamist terror —74% say we should remove foreign nationals who glorify terrorism from the country, which no doubt includes some of those radical Islamists who just forced Mike Freer MP to resign from public office (that’s right, radical Islamists have just essentially forced a Member of Parliament out of office because of his political views).

And it’s the same story, by the way, in countries like France, where more than 80% of people would support laws which make it easier to deport foreign nationals who are living in the country illegally, or who have committed serious crimes.

So, yes, I’m angry and I’m upset.

Once again, we find ourselves in the utterly ridiculous and frustrating position of having to watch an illegal migrant who had already committed crimes going on to launch a horrific ordeal against a mother and her two young children.

Once again, we are forced to contrast all those utterly vacuous slogans that are repeated by our Zombie-like elites — “diversity our strength!”— with the reality of what is actually unfolding on Britain’s streets today, with the reality of what happens when you import huge numbers of mainly young, Muslim men from the likes of Afghanistan who simply do not share our values, beliefs, and way of life.

I don’t know about you but my view is this: enough is enough.

We need a new politics that is willing to take on the human rights regime and surrounding charity industrial complex. We need a new politics that prioritises the slashing of illegal (and legal) migration. We need a new politics that does whatever it takes to strengthen Britain’s borders and protect the British people. We need a new politics which, ultimately, makes it crystal clear that the safety and security of the British people will always be prioritised above the interests of foreign criminals.

And we need it now.
